Re: Fing - Network Tools v12.11.3 build 121103003 [Premium] [Mod Extra]
Important information about the Fing and Android versions that support MAC address detection for devices in scanned networks .
Due to Google's renewed tightening of requirements for Android app developers, current versions of the Fing app no longer support the ability to detect MAC addresses of devices detected in scanned networks directly within the app itself!
The latest version of Fing that supports the ability to detect MAC addresses within the app itself is Fing 12.11.0 . This version is guaranteed to detect MAC addresses of devices (except for devices running the latest versions of Android detected in networks) only on phones and tablets running Android 9, 10, and 12 and Harmony OS 3.0. On newer versions of Android, MAC address detection directly within the app is likely to fail, even with Fing 12.11.0 (further testing is required).
As for Fing versions newer than Fing 12.11.0, on any version of Android, the ability to detect MAC addresses of devices found on the network in the Fing app itself will not work at all!
In their new versions of the app, the Fing developers even suggest signing a petition through the app itself to Google to remove these restrictions on MAC address detection.
To restore the ability to detect MAC addresses, the Fing developers also suggest installing a special application (image) called Finger Desktop on a computer, Raspberry Pi device, a MacOS device, or Docker. This image will allow the Fing app to again obtain the MAC addresses of scanned devices.
